Executive Summary EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Headland High School was built in 1946 by Brown Construction Company of Ashford, Alabama. For 58 years Headland High School has been recognized as one of the leading schools in the Wiregrass area for academic achievement. The faculty and staff of Headland High School
emphasize academic excellence, success and a positive learning environment for
the students. We believe that every child can learn and be successful if he/she
receives encouragement and the appropriate motivation from parents, family,
teachers, coaches, administration, staff and community supporters. We are
pleased that our students scores compare at an average and above average level
with state and national ACT scores. Over the last five years we have averaged a
98% passing rate on the Alabama High School Graduation Exam. An average of more
than $300,000.00 has been awarded in two and four year college scholarships to
members of the last five graduating classes. The plan and facilities continue to be an area of renovation and growth. In 1998 a 1.3 million dollar career/technical building was constructed to house instruction of brick masonry, business education, health education, and CISCO. The building has the capacity to accommodate welding and construction technology programs. We have added four new classrooms to our campus, eliminating the use of portable classroom. Future projects include renovation of the gymnasium and band room or the construction of a new band room.
We are very proud of what we have achieved on behalf of our students and community. The faculty and staff realize that past achievements and future successes are and will continue to be the result of dedication and hard work by all of stakeholders of Headland High School. We will continue to make every effort and expend all available resources to ensure that the tradition of excellence continues.
Respectfully,
Steve Williams Principal
